Job summary

Randstad Education is seeking a Learning Support Assistant in the Horsham area to support students with SEN in a residential special school setting. The role is full-time, Monday to Friday, 08:30–16:00, on-site with term-time only commitments.

The appointed candidate will engage learners in the primary unit, provide group/individual activities, and support overall well-being and academic progress under teacher guidance. DBS checks and safeguarding compliance apply.

Qualifications

• Willingness to learn and build relationships with learners.
• Capable of leading or supporting groups in multiple subjects.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Provide teaching assistance according to the plan set by the teacher.
• Lead group and/or individual activities as directed.

Learning Support Assistant needed

£88-£110 a day

Long term/ contract role- Guaranteed until July 2027

Within the Horsham area the school is set in its own beautiful grounds. The residential special school caters for students with a range of SEN needs and has a fully enhanced curriculum. The aim of the school is to help the individual's access and progress with their independence. The school provides a fantastic holistic approach to education encompassing teaching and learning with a therapy input.

This specialised school is a non-maintained residential special school, designed to meet the educational, behavioural, care and therapeutic needs of children (age 6-16 years). The children have a range of special needs including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) and Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC).

The school is looking for a full time learning support assistant who is willing to make a difference and can engage students in their primary unit.

Hours: Monday-Friday 08:30-4pm

Your role as an SEN learning support assistant will include:

• To provide teaching assistance to the teacher defined according to weekly/daily/sessional planning of the teacher
• To provide group and/or individual activities, planned by the teacher
• To work individually with learners/students to develop work.
• To support the general well being of learners within the structure of the school
• To monitor and evaluate learners' learning under the guidance of the teacher
• To assist teachers in the use of relevant management strategies to ensure a purposeful environment for teaching and learning to take place
• To support all learners in their planned structured work in all curriculum areas

Key skills and experience needed:

• Be able to work with learners that have various learning difficulties.
• Have an understanding of the students with special needs.
• Willingness to learn and build relationships with learners.
• Be confident to support the lead in groups, in different educational subjects.
• The ability to work as an individual and as a part of the team.
• Be flexible in their approach to education.
