Job summary

Randstad Education is seeking a Learning Support Assistant for a residential SEN setting in Reigate. The role runs full-time on site, Monday to Friday, 08:30–16:00, with a term-time schedule and a guaranteed contract until July 2027.

The successful candidate will support learners with diverse needs, engage in group and individual activities, and assist the teacher in planning and delivery across the curriculum. DBS checks and safeguarding are part of the recruitment process.

Qualifications

• Experience working in SEND settings.
• Experience working with children is essential.
• Be flexible and able to work independently and in a team.
• Be able to engage learners with varying learning difficulties.
• Willingness to learn and build relationships with learners.
• Be confident to support the lead in groups and in different subjects.

Responsibilities

• Provide teaching assistance to the teacher according to weekly/daily/sessional planning.
• Provide group and/or individual activities planned by the teacher.
• Work individually with learners to develop work.
• Support learners' wellbeing within the school structure.
• Monitor and evaluate learners' progress under teacher guidance.
• Assist teachers in applying management strategies for a productive learning environment.
• Support learners in planned structured work across curriculum areas.

Learning Support Assistant needed

£88-£110 a day

Long term/ contract role- Guaranteed until July 2027

Within the Reigate area the school is set in its own beautiful grounds. The residential special school caters for students with a range of SEN needs and has a fully enhanced curriculum. The aim of the school is to help the individual's access and progress with their independence. The school provides a fantastic holistic approach to education encompassing teaching and learning with a therapy input.

This specialised school is a non-maintained residential special school, designed to meet the educational, behavioural, care and therapeutic needs of children (age 6-16 years). The children have a range of special needs including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) and Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC).

The school is looking for a full time learning support assistant who is willing to make a difference and can engage students in their primary unit.

Hours: Monday-Friday 08:30-4pm

This is a term time only role.

Your role as an SEN learning support assistant will include:

• To provide teaching assistance to the teacher defined according to weekly/daily/sessional planning of the teacher
• To provide group and/or individual activities, planned by the teacher
• To work individually with learners/students to develop work.
• To support the general well being of learners within the structure of the school
• To monitor and evaluate learners' learning under the guidance of the teacher
• To assist teachers in the use of relevant management strategies to ensure a purposeful environment for teaching and learning to take place
• To support all learners in their planned structured work in all curriculum areas

Key skills and experience needed:
