Job summary

Grange Academy is a community special academy for pupils aged 7-16, part of the BILTT trust. We are seeking a committed Learning Support Assistant to support pupils with diverse needs in a 31.25-hour week during term time, with a start date in September 2026.

The role offers a supportive team, DBS clearance, and opportunities for professional development. Applicants should be passionate about helping vulnerable children reach their potential, with strong literacy/numeracy skills and the ability

Qualifications

  • Experience of delivering structured activities without supervision.
  • Knowledge of autism, behaviour and SEND needs preferred or willingness to learn.
  • Strong literacy and numeracy skills; good communication and relationships with pupils, families and professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils to achieve outcomes in a supportive, structured environment.
  • Deliver planned activities and monitor pupil progress under supervision.
  • Collaborate with staff, families and external professionals to support learners.

PERMANENT LEARNING SUPPORT ASSISTANT (Part Time)

3AS point 6-9 (£19, 280 - 20, 219 pa actual salary)

31 hours 15 minutes per week term time (8.40am-3.25pm)

Term Time Only + 5 training days

Start date - September 2026

Grange Academy is a community special academy for pupils aged 7-16 with a wide range of ability levels and additional learning needs, including moderate learning difficulties and autism. The school is part of a local Multi Academy Trust of special schools, BILTT. Due to the expansion of our school, we are looking to appoint a highly motivated person who:

  • is passionate about making a difference in the lives of vulnerable children
  • has experience of delivering structured activities without supervision
  • has knowledge of autism, behaviour and SEND needs or is willing to learn and develop a range of skills and strategies
  • work effectively as part of a team to improve pupil confidence, attitudes and resilience
  • is able to build effective relationships with pupils, staff, families and other professionals
  • has a good sense of humour and is flexible, reliable, resilient and positive
  • has strong literacy and numeracy skills and has good communication skills
  • has the ability to work as part of a dedicated team
  • has effective organisational skills and a positive outlook
