Job summary

Supply Desk is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to join the Learning Support Department of a Portsmouth area school. You will support students with additional needs, including Autism, ADHD, and dyslexia, in class and in small groups to promote independence and confidence.

You will work closely with teaching staff to provide tailored support, helping students access learning content and develop essential study skills in a positive, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting young people with additional needs (education, care, youth work, or similar settings).
• Patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Providing classroom-based support for students with additional learning needs.
• Working on a one-to-one basis or with small groups to promote engagement and progress.
• Assisting students in accessing lesson content across a range of subjects.
• Supporting the development of study skills, organisation, confidence, and independence.
• Liaising with teachers and Learning Support staff to ensure students receive appropriate support.
• Helping to create an inclusive and positive learning environment.
