Job summary

Midlothian Council's Lasswade High School is recruiting a Learning Assistant ASN to support one individual student with additional support needs within the school. The role involves moving and handling and personal care as required to help the student access the curriculum.

The post is fixed term until 29 June 2027, 27.5 hours per week over 39 weeks, with a starting salary of £19,229.64 per annum and progression within the salary scale.

Qualifications

• Evidence of basic literacy and numeracy at Standard Grade General level or SVQ2 in Early Years Care and Education, or National Certificate unit in Childcare & Education, or equivalent competency.
• Familiar with child development and able to respond to individual pupils' needs.
• Previous experience of working in this field of work.
• To undertake additional training courses such as first aid, calm techniques, etc.
• If in Nursery environment, must register with SSSC within 6 months of appointment.

Responsibilities

• Support one specific pupil with their additional support needs to access the curriculum.
• If the pupil is absent, carry out alternative tasks supporting other students.
• Role includes some moving and handling and personal care responsibilities.
