Job summary

North Lanarkshire Council is recruiting a Learning Assistant (Universal) to support children with additional needs across the Cumbernauld Academy Cluster and Greenfaulds High School Cluster.

The role includes assisting with classroom activities, personal care, stock checks, and welcoming arrivals and escorts. PVG scheme membership is required before starting. The post is 25 hours per week (Mon–Fri, 9:00–3:00), temporary to 25/06/2027, with a pro rata salary of £26,991–£28,283.

Qualifications

• Recent experience working with children in schools or voluntary capacity.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to undertake NHS or Education training as required.
• Experience of working with children/young people who have additional needs is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Care for children and assist with personal hygiene requirements.
• Attend to daily reception and departure of children and escort duties.
• Assist with classroom duties: prepare classwork/materials, setup teaching aids, and reprographic tasks.
