Job summary

Macclesfield College is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to help learners access the curriculum and the college environment, both in class and out of class. You will implement learner support plans, work on a one-to-one or group basis, and assist with mobility and campus facilities during breaks and lunches.

The role emphasizes safeguarding, DBS disclosure, and collaboration with Learning Support Co-ordinators to ensure equity and high learner outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct in-class and out of class support to help learners to access the curriculum and the college environment.
• Implement strategies, risk assessments, PEEPs and other support arrangements as outlined in the learner’s support plan and explained by the Learning Support Co-ordinators and Inclusive Learning Advisors.
• Work flexibly on either a one-to-one basis or group basis supporting learners with additional support needs as guided by the Learning Support Co-ordinators.
• Provide meet and greet, break and lunch support as required for individual learner needs.
• Provide practical and personal care for learners as required.
• Support learners with mobility needs to access all aspects of the campus. Assist students in accessing general college facilities, for example the toilets, refectory, shop and the library, at break and lunch times.
