Job summary

Orchard Hill College, an Outstanding Specialist College, is seeking Learning Support Assistants to support learners with diverse needs across College Centres in London and Surrey. You will work 36 hours per week during term time, supporting educational, personal care and therapy programmes to promote independence and wellbeing.

The role requires Level 1 Maths and Level 2 English or willingness to enrol on a Functional Skills course within the first year, with progression within two years.

Qualifications

• Must hold Level 1 Maths and Level 2 English qualifications, or be willing to enrol on a functional skills course within your first year and complete within 2 years.
• Experience of safeguarding children and vulnerable adults is essential.
• Experience of working with or caring for learners with SEND is desirable.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills are necessary to support learners effectively.

Responsibilities

• Encourage learners to be independent and support progress in line with lesson targets.
• Follow classroom Lecturer guidance to reinforce learning and promote independence.
• Support learners in accessing home, community, work-related and basic skills programmes.
• Follow Health and Safety policies to ensure the safety of learners and staff at all times.
• Work collaboratively within a team to support learners with a range of needs and behaviours of concern.
