Job summary

South Ayrshire Council is seeking a dedicated school support assistant to relieve teachers of non-teaching duties and assist with classroom administration and material preparation. You will support learning activities under the guidance of teachers and colleagues, and help pupils with diverse additional support needs, including those with physical difficulties and challenging behaviour.

The role is a Regulated Work position requiring PVG clearance.

Qualifications

• PVG Scheme membership or willingness to join the PVG Scheme.
• Post involves Regulated Work with children and/or protected adults as per PVG Act 2007.
• PVG costs may be met for successful candidate.

Responsibilities

• Relieve teachers of non-teaching duties including classroom administration and preparation of teaching materials.
• Support learning activities of children under the direction of the classroom teacher/Principal Teacher and colleagues.
• Support pupils with additional support needs including physical difficulties and challenging behaviour.
