Job summary

GSL Education are currently seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to work within schools across Middlesbrough. You will provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils, helping them stay engaged, build confidence, and become more independent in the classroom.

This part-time temporary role offers an immediate start, requires safeguarding awareness, and provides opportunities to gain valuable experience supporting learners academically, socially, and emotionally.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable.
• A patient, caring, and understanding approach.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils.
• Reliable, adaptable, and proactive attitude.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group learning support.
• Assist pupils with classroom activities and learning tasks.
• Support students who may have additional learning needs.
• Encourage confidence, independence, and positive engagement.
• Help pupils overcome barriers to learning.
• Build positive and trusting relationships with students.
• Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff.
• Promote a calm, inclusive, and positive learning environment.
• Follow safeguarding and school policies at all times.
