Job summary

GSL Education in Braintree is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming school. You will work with students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, helping them access learning, build confidence and achieve positive outcomes throughout their education.

The role involves supporting learning across subjects, assisting staff in delivering inclusive lessons, adapting activities to individual needs and promoting positive behaviour.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children or young people in education, care or support settings.
• Experience supporting students with SEN, SEMH, Autism or ADHD (desirable).
• Passion for helping young people succeed.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
• Patience, empathy and a calm, supportive approach.
• Strong behaviour management and boundary setting.
• Flexible, proactive and resilient attitude.
• Team player and able to work well with others.
• Commitment to supporting students' academic, social and emotional development.

Responsibilities

• Provide classroom-based support to students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Support learning across a range of subjects.
• Work with teaching staff to deliver engaging, inclusive lessons.
• Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs.
• Support students with additional needs including SEN, SEMH, Autism and ADHD.
• Encourage positive behaviour and engagement in class.
• Help develop social, emotional and communication skills.
• Create a safe, positive learning environment and maintain confidentiality.
• Monitor progress and provide feedback to teachers.
• Support during break times, visits and enrichment activities as required.
• Build positive relationships with students, staff and parents/carers.
