Job summary

GSL Education in Barnsley is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to support pupils with learning and day-to-day needs. You will provide one-to-one and small-group support, assisting with classroom tasks and contributing to a positive classroom environment.

The role requires strong communication skills, patience, adaptability and a genuine commitment to helping pupils succeed. DBS checks and right-to-work in the UK are required, with CPD opportunities available.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• A patient, supportive and adaptable approach.
• Ability to work effectively alongside teachers and other staff.
• A genuine commitment to helping pupils succeed.
• Experience in a school or education setting is advantageous.
• Have the right to work in the UK.
• Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.
• Enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
• Safeguarding and child-protection checks required.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils.
• Assist pupils with classroom tasks and learning activities.
• Work alongside teachers to support lesson delivery and pupil engagement.
• Help pupils develop confidence, independence and positive learning habits.
• Support pupils who may need additional help with their learning or behaviour.
• Share observations and feedback with teaching staff.
