Job summary

The Cornerstone Academy is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to join our Student Support - Inclusion team. You will help students access learning through interventions, support safety and development, and monitor progress in the classroom.

The role is permanent, 35 hours per week, term-time only, 38 weeks plus training days. Applicants should have SEN experience, be IT confident, and commit to CPD, with a Level 3 TA qualification welcome or willingness to undertake training.

Learning Support Assistant

Student Support - Inclusion

Start date: September 2026

Salary: Full Time Equivalent £25,918 / Pro rata Actual salary £20,873

Contract type: Permanent

Hours: 35 hours per week – Monday to Friday

Term time only, 38 school weeks plus training days

About the role
  • Develop students’ ability to access learning by use of interventions and skills as guided by SENDCo and / or expert professionals
  • Work with either individuals or groups of students to ensure their safety and facilitate their physical, emotional and educational development
  • Support and monitor the progress of individuals/groups of students in the classroom
  • Promote independent learning
  • Establish a supporting and positive relationship with students and parents/carers
  • Work proactively to improve the progress of students with classroom support and interventions to ensure all abilities can access a high standard of learning and achieve best possible outcomes
About you
  • Have experience working with students with SEN
  • Be confident in the use of Information Technology
  • Be flexible and willing to learn
  • Have a commitment to your own CPD – this could include a Level 3 TA Qualification or willingness to undertake this training, which will be delivered by United Learning with supported time to complete this qualification.
