Job summary

St Francis’ Catholic Primary School invites applications for a Learning Support Assistant to join from September 2026. The role focuses on providing high-quality 1:1 support to pupils with Special Educational Needs within a nurturing Catholic community.

You will work closely with class teachers and the SENCo to enable access to learning, support speech and language needs, and help pupils build confidence and reach their potential.

Qualifications

Learning Support Assistant

St Francis’ Catholic Primary School is seeking a committed, caring, and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join our welcoming and dedicated team from September 2026. This is an exciting opportunity to play a vital role supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs within a nurturing and inclusive Catholic school community. Working closely with class teachers and the SENCo, you will provide high‑quality 1:1 classroom support, helping ensure every child can access learning, build confidence and achieve their full potential.

Contract: Term Time Only, permanent

Contracted Hours: Monday to Friday 8.30am to 3.30pm, total of 32.5 hours, 39 weeks per year

Salary Scale: PS3 FTE £25,133pa, actual/pro rata salary £19,521.09pa

The successful candidate will:

  • have experience of supporting pupils with SEN and utilising strategies to manage behaviours and meet needs, including supporting speech and language
  • have awareness of Child Safeguarding and the latest SEN policies to implement effective provision, including working with outside agencies to deliver EHCP provisions
  • be compassionate and dedicated to provide one‑on‑one support to a student with EHCPs
  • have the ability to work as part of a team as well as through their initiative
  • make a notable impact on the quality of learning in a lesson
  • be flexible, adaptable, patient and be a good team player
  • possess good literacy and numeracy skills
  • maintain confidentiality inside and outside of the school
