Job summary

Long Term Futures is recruiting a Learning Support Assistant for a Birmingham secondary school to support students with SEND, delivering 1:1 and small group support and assisting with lessons and structured activities.

The role focuses on secondary pupils with Autism, ADHD, and SEMH, working with SENCo and pastoral teams to implement strategies, monitor progress, and promote independence. This is a long-term temp-to-perm position with ASAP start.

Responsibilities

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support to students with SEND
  • Supporting pupils within lessons and in alternative learning environments
  • Assisting with the delivery of structured and engaging lessons
  • Implementing strategies to support behaviour, engagement, and learning
  • Supporting students with emotional regulation and transitions between lessons
  • Monitoring progress and behaviour, providing feedback to staff where appropriate
  • Encouraging independence, confidence, and positive social interactions
  • Working collaboratively with staff to support individual learning plans

Learning Support Assistant

Birmingham (accessible via public transport, with a short walk for non-drivers)

£110‑£115 per day

Start Date: ASAP

Contract: Full‑time, long‑term temp‑to‑perm (Full Academic Year)

Long Term Futures is recruiting for a committed and proactive Learning Support Assistant to join a secondary school in Birmingham, supporting students with SEND. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.

The role will focus on supporting secondary‑aged pupils, many of whom have additional needs such as Autism, ADHD, and SEMH, often requiring tailored support and consistent guidance throughout the school day.

About the Role

Working closely with teaching staff, the SENCo, and pastoral teams, your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support to students with SEND
  • Supporting pupils within lessons and in alternative learning environments
  • Assisting with the delivery of structured and engaging lessons
  • Implementing strategies to support behaviour, engagement, and learning
  • Supporting students with emotional regulation and transitions between lessons
  • Monitoring progress and behaviour, providing feedback to staff where appropriate
