Job summary

Kisimul Group Ltd is seeking a Learning Support Assistant for Calman College, a specialist independent college near Peterborough. You will build strong relationships with autistic learners, support the Class Tutor, and help deliver programmes across curriculum and vocational tasks.

The role runs Monday to Friday during term time, with opportunities for professional development. DBS checks are required and the college emphasises safeguarding and inclusive practice.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with autistic learners or learners with additional learning needs is preferred.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with students and staff.
  • Willingness to undertake DBS checks and safeguarding training.

Responsibilities

  • Build strong, meaningful relationships with students and adapt to individual learning styles.
  • Support the Class Tutor and help review each student's progress.
  • Assist in implementing programmes designed by a multidisciplinary team.
  • Help students access curriculum and vocational tasks to achieve targets.
  • Contribute to students' development through healthy lifestyle activities and engagement.

Welcome to Calman Colaiste (College), a Specialist Independent 16-25 college providing further education for autistic young adults with additional learning disabilities and complex needs. About You

As a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) you will be an integral part of the family at Calman College, no two days are the same but here is a brief overview of what your day-to-day duties may look like:

  • One of the most important aspects of your role is to build strong and meaningful relationships with our students, adapting to each students way of learning.
  • Supporting the Class Tutor and working together to review the progress of each student
  • Assist in implementing programmes devised by a multi-disciplinary team, such as Speech and Language Therapists, Physiotherapists and Educational Psychologists from our integrated clinical services.
  • Support access to curriculum and vocational work with the students to ensure positive outcomes in line with their personal targets
  • Contribute to the development of the students through the provision of a healthy lifestyle and a variety of appropriate stimulating activities.
  • Support students to develop their communication skills utilising methods appropriate to their abilities.
  • Enable work experience and volunteering opportunities onsite and the local community.
What does my working week look like?

This role is Monday to Friday during term time.
