Job summary

Calman College, part of Kisimul Group Ltd, seeks a Learning Support Assistant to build strong relationships with autistic learners and support multidisciplinary programmes. The role focuses on adapting to each student’s learning style, aiding access to curriculum and vocational activities, and promoting positive outcomes in line with personal targets.

Qualifications

  • Build strong, meaningful relationships with students and adapt to individual learning styles.
  • Support the Class Tutor and monitor progress of each student.
  • Assist in implementing programmes from multidisciplinary teams (SLT, PT, Educational Psychologists).
  • Help students access curriculum and vocational activities to meet personal targets.

About the College

Welcome to Calman College, a Specialist Independent 16‑25 college providing further education for autistic young adults with additional learning disabilities and complex needs. We benefit from a large 20 acre site with a functional learning hub with catering, horticulture, creative arts and animal husbandry provision. About You

Learning Support Assistant (LSA) Role Overview

  • Build strong and meaningful relationships with our students, adapting to each student’s way of learning.
  • Support the Class Tutor and work together to review the progress of each student.
  • Assist in implementing programmes devised by a multidisciplinary team, such as Speech and Language Therapists, Physiotherapists and Educational Psychologists from our integrated clinical services.
  • Support access to curriculum and vocational work with the students to ensure positive outcomes in line with their personal targets.
  • Contribute to the development of the students through the provision of a healthy lifestyle and a variety of appropriate stimulating activities.
  • Support students to develop their communication skills using methods appropriate to their abilities.
  • Enable work experience and volunteering opportunities onsite and in the local community.
Working Week

This role is Monday to Friday during term time.
