Job description

Learning Support Assistant SEN Support Long Term / Permanent Telford

We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a committed and supportive team at a primary school based in Telford. The successful candidate will work across the early years and key stage 1 classes to support children who have additional learning needs, as well as acting as a general Teaching Assistant within the classroom.

Job Role: Learning Support Assistant (LSA)

Start Date: April 2025

Location: Telford

Contract: Full Time

Rate: 85 - 104 per day

What will your responsibilities be?

  1. To provide 1:1 and small group support to children within the classroom
  2. Collaborate with the class teacher and other support staff, meeting the children's specific needs
  3. Create a positive and inclusive learning environment, promoting independence and social integration
  4. Monitor and record certain children's progress, communicating effectively with the SENCO and other relevant professionals

What do you need for this role?

  1. Experience working in a SEND focused position within a school or care setting.
  2. An understanding of the specific challenges faced by children with complex needs and a commitment to inclusive education.
  3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with the child, parents, teaching staff, and external professionals.
  4. Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards supporting the unique learning journey of the child.
