Job summary

Milk Education, in partnership with a welcoming secondary school in Darlington, is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to start in September.

You will support pupils across Key Stage 3 and 4, working 1:1 and in small intervention groups, to help them overcome barriers and reach their potential. This role offers a supportive school community and a long-term, full-time placement with competitive pay.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or young people in a secondary setting or SEN environment.
  • Knowledge of SEND, Autism, ADHD, SEMH or learning difficulties.
  • Patient, resilient and able to build positive relationships with young people.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

Milk Education is working in partnership with a fantastic secondary school in Darlington to recruit a dedicated Learning Support Assistant for a full-time, long-term position starting in September.

This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a supportive school community, working across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 to help students overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential.

The Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will:

  • Support students across all secondary year groups in lessons.
  • Work with pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small intervention groups.
  • Provide tailored support for students with additional learning, communication or behavioural needs.
  • Encourage positive engagement, confidence and independence.
  • Work closely with teachers and the SEN department to deliver effective support strategies.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with children or young people, ideally within a secondary school, SEN or support setting.
  • Has knowledge or experience supporting students with additional needs such as SEND, Autism, ADHD, SEMH or learning difficulties.
  • Is patient, resilient and able to build positive relationships with young people.
  • Has excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Is committed to helping every student achieve their potential.
