Job summary

Milk Education is seeking a compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming Secondary School in North Manchester. You will provide tailored support for students with additional learning needs, working with the SEND team and teachers to help every learner thrive.

This role starts in September, with opportunities for ongoing CPD through Milk Academy and dedicated consultant support to help you grow in education.

  • Assist with preparing classroom resources and day-to-day learning activities.
  • Reinforce positive behaviour and maintain safeguarding standards.

Learning Support Assistant - Secondary School in North Manchester

Milk Education is seeking a compassionate, motivated and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive Secondary School in North Manchester. This role is available from September and is perfect for someone who is passionate about helping young people overcome challenges, build confidence and achieve success both academically and personally.

Whether you have previous experience as a Learning Support Assistant or Teaching Assistant, are a graduate looking to gain experience before pursuing a career in education, or have transferable skills from working with young people, this is an excellent opportunity to make a genuine difference within a supportive secondary school.

Working alongside class teachers and the SEND team, you'll provide tailored support for students with a range of additional learning needs, helping to create an engaging, inclusive environment where every learner has the opportunity to thrive.

Your Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with additional learning needs
  • Work collaboratively with teachers to adapt learning activities and improve access to the curriculum
  • Support students with SEND, SEMH needs and those requiring additional classroom support
  • Encourage confidence, independence, resilience and active participation both in and out of the classroom
  • Deliver targeted interventions to support students' academic, social and emotional development
  • Assist with preparing classroom resources and supporting day-to-day learning activities
  • Help students overcome barriers to learning through consistent encouragement and tailored guidance
  • Reinforce positive behaviour in line with the school's behaviour policy
  • Build strong working relationships with students, colleagues and parents/carers
  • Help maintain a safe, inclusive learning environment while promoting student wellbeing and safeguarding
We're Looking For Someone Who:
  • Has experience working with young people in a school, childcare, tutoring, youth work, coaching or a similar setting (desirable)
  • Has experience supporting students with additional learning needs or SEND (desirable but not essential)
  • Is passionate about helping young people reach their full potential
  • Has a patient, caring, reliable and positive approach
  • Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Works well as part of a collaborative school team
  • Is adaptable, proactive and committed to continued professional development
  • Has an understanding of safeguarding responsibilities or is willing to complete the relevant training
  • Holds a relevant qualification or degree (desirable but not essential)

This role is paid within the advertised pay scale. Your starting rate will be determined by your qualifications, relevant experience, and the requirements of the assignment.
