Job summary

Education First Recruitment seeks a dedicated Learning Support Assistant for a secondary school in Sutton on a long-term basis. You will support students with SEN, work with teachers to deliver engaging lessons, and help students develop academically and personally.

The role requires patience, resilience and a passion for helping young people overcome barriers to learning, with opportunities across London and surrounding areas.

Education First are currently recruiting for a dedicated and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join a secondary school in Sutton on a long-term basis. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced LSA or someone with a strong background working with young people who is passionate about supporting students with additional needs.

The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and support staff to help students engage with learning, develop confidence and make progress both academically and personally.

The Role - Learning Support Assistant

• Supporting secondary-aged students across the classroom and wider school environment.
• Providing 1:1 and small-group support to students with SEN and additional learning needs.
• Assisting students with their academic, social and emotional development.
• Supporting students with SEMH, ASD, ADHD and challenging behaviour.
• Working alongside teachers to deliver engaging lessons and differentiated learning activities.
• Building positive and trusting relationships with students to encourage confidence and participation.
• Supporting behaviour management and helping students regulate their emotions.
• Encouraging students to develop independence, social skills and positive learning habits.
• Providing support both inside and outside the classroom as required.

The Ideal Candidate

• Previous experience working with children or young people in a school, SEN, SEMH, PRU or similar setting.
• Experience supporting students with additional learning needs and challenging behaviour.
• A patient, resilient and caring approach to student support.
• Strong behaviour management and communication skills.
• The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• A genuine passion for helping young people overcome barriers to learning.
• Relevant qualifications or training in education, SEN or behaviour support are desirable but not essential.
