Job summary

GSL Education Sunderland are seeking dedicated Learning Support Assistants to work in schools across Sunderland. The successful candidate will support students with academic, social, and emotional development, working closely with teachers and staff to foster confidence, independence, and participation in classroom activities.

Role involves one-to-one and small-group support, adapting resources to individual needs, and contributing to a safe, inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with children or young people in a school or similar setting is desirable.
  • CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent is desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Genuine passion for supporting children\'s education and wellbeing.
  • Enhanced DBS on Update Service or willingness to apply via GSL Education.

Salary: £95 - £115 per day (depending on experience)

GSL Education Newcastle are seeking dedicated Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) to work in schools across Sunderland.

The successful Learning Support Assistant will work closely with teachers and other support staff to assist students with their academic, social, and emotional development. This rewarding role involves supporting individuals and small groups, encouraging confidence, independence, and active participation in classroom activities while adapting to the individual needs of each learner.

Responsibilities of a Learning Support Assistant:

  • Support students on a one-to-one basis and in small groups to enhance learning and development.
  • Assist teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons.
  • Support students according to their individual learning needs and education plans.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and promote student confidence and independence.
  • Adapt learning resources and classroom activities to meet individual requirements.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers.
  • Help maintain a safe, supportive, and well-managed classroom environment.
  • Build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Support pupils with additional learning needs where appropriate.

Requirements of a Learning Support Assistant:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people in a school or similar setting is desirable.
  • CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or an equivalent qualification is desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patient, caring, and adaptable approach to supporting students.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when required.
  • Good organisational skills and a proactive attitude.
  • Genuine passion for supporting children's education and wellbeing.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply via GSL Education.
