Job summary

Pertemps Education Network is seeking a dedicated SEN Learning Support Assistant for a prominent secondary school in Wembley. You will provide 1:1 and small-group support to students with SEN, helping them access the curriculum and participate actively in lessons.

Qualifications

SEN Learning Support Assistant

Location: Secondary School, Wembley, Brent (HA9)

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Contract: Full-Time, Term Time Only

Are you passionate about supporting young people with additional needs and helping them reach their full potential? We are seeking a caring, dedicated and proactive SEN Learning Support Assistant to join our well-established Special Educational Needs (SEN) team in a highly organised and supportive secondary school based in Wembley.

About the Role

As an SEN Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with students who have a range of additional needs, including:

  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  • Down Syndrome
  • Speech, Language and Communication Needs
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs (SEMH)
  • Moderate Learning Difficulties

Each morning, the SEN team meets for a structured briefing and debrief session to discuss student progress, daily objectives and support strategies. You will be assigned a specific student or students to support each day, ensuring clear direction and consistency in the support provided.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEN.
  • Assist students in accessing the curriculum and engaging positively in lessons.
  • Implement strategies outlined in Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • Support students with organisation, emotional regulation and social interaction.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and other professionals.
  • Monitor and record student progress and wellbeing.
  • Encourage independence, confidence and positive behaviour.
  • Support students during break times, transitions and school activities where required.
What We Are Looking For
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN, either in schools, care settings or youth work.
  • Understanding of Autism, ADHD, Down Syndrome and other additional needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A patient, empathetic and resilient approach.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Relevant qualifications are desirable but not essential.
