Job summary

A welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Milton Keynes seeks a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join its supportive team. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and other staff to help students overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.

This role offers opportunities to provide one-to-one and small-group support, assist with learning activities, and contribute to pastoral and academic help while building positive relationships within the school

Qualifications

  • Experience with children or young people in educational settings.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work well within a team and follow guidance from teachers and pastoral staff.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one support to students in the classroom.
  • Support students in small groups to improve learning engagement.
  • Assist teachers with lesson activities and resources.
  • Help students develop confidence, independence and organisational skills.
  • Support students with additional learning needs as required.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and inclusive learning environment.
  • Build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • Contribute to wider pastoral and academic support within the school.

The Role
  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support to students in the classroom.
  • Work alongside teachers to support student's learning and engagement.
  • Help students develop their confidence, independence and organisational skills.
  • Support students who may have additional learning needs.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and promote an inclusive learning environment.
  • Assist students with accessing and completing classroom activities.
  • Build positive and professional relationships with students and staff.
  • Contribute to the wider pastoral and academic support provided by the school.
The Ideal Candidate
  • Has experience working with children or young people, ideally within a secondary school setting.
  • Is patient, approachable and supportive.
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Can build positive relationships with students while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
  • Is committed to inclusion and helping every student succeed.
  • Can work effectively as part of a team and follow guidance from teaching and pastoral staff.
  • Is reliable, proactive and willing to contribute positively to school life.
