Job summary

Aspire People is recruiting a Learning Support Assistant for a well-regarded secondary school in Hounslow. You will support pupils with a range of needs, helping them access the curriculum and build independence in and out of the classroom.

You will work with teachers and the SENCO to implement individual plans, differentiate materials, and support pupil wellbeing. This full-time role offers immediate start and competitive daily pay depending on experience.

Qualifications

  • Experience as a Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant in secondary schools is desirable.
  • Warm, patient and nurturing approach with commitment to supporting pupils.
  • Understanding of SEN needs including ASD, ADHD, SEMH and learning difficulties.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Level 2 or Level 3 TA qualification preferred but not essential.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing.

Responsibilities

  • Provide in-class support to pupils with diverse needs on a 1:1, small group, and whole-class basis.
  • Collaborate with class teachers and the SENCO to implement EHCPs and individual plans.
  • Adapt and differentiate learning materials to meet pupil needs.
  • Support pupils' social, emotional, and behavioural development alongside academics.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, parents, staff, and the school team.
  • Monitor and record pupil progress, feeding back to teachers and SENCO.
  • Supervise pupils during lessons, breaks and transitions as required.
  • Follow safeguarding, health and safety and school policies at all times.

Salary: £110-£120 per day, dependent on experience

About the Role:

You will work closely with class teachers and the SENCO to provide targeted support to pupils with a range of additional needs across secondary year groups, helping them to access the curriculum, engage with learning and develop greater independence both inside and outside the classroom.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide in-class support to pupils with a range of additional needs on a 1:1, small group and whole class basis
  • Work closely with class teachers and the SENCO to implement EHCPs and individual support plans
  • Assist in adapting and differentiating learning materials to meet the needs of individual pupils
  • Support pupils' social, emotional and behavioural development alongside their academic progress
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils, parents, staff and the wider school team
  • Monitor and record pupil progress, feeding back to teachers and the SENCO regularly
  • Supervise pupils during lessons, breaks and transitions as required
  • Follow safeguarding, health and safety and school-specific policies at all times
About You:
  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant in a secondary school setting - desirable
  • A warm, patient and nurturing approach with a genuine commitment to supporting young people
  • Understanding of a range of SEN needs including ASD, ADHD, SEMH and learning difficulties
  • Ability to adapt to different classroom environments and pupil needs with confidence and flexibility
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team
  • Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification preferred but not essential
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the well being of all pupils
