Job summary

Teaching Personnel is seeking a compassionate PMLD Learning Support Assistant to work within a well-established specialist secondary provision in Carmarthen, supporting pupils aged 3-19 with complex additional learning needs, including PMLD and autism.

You will provide dedicated 1:1 and small group support, assist with personal care and mobility, and help pupils engage in sensory and multi-sensory activities while collaborating with teachers and therapists to promote independence and wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people with SEN, PMLD, complex needs or within a care setting.
• Willingness to provide personal care.
• Enhanced DBS (Child Workforce) on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
• Registered with the Education Workforce Council (EWC) in Wales or willingness to register prior to placement.
• Commitment to safeguarding and child protection procedures.

Teaching Personnel is seeking a compassionate and dedicated PMLD Learning Support Assistant to work within a well-established specialist secondary provision in Carmarthen that supports pupils aged 3-19 with complex additional learning needs.

This setting supports learners with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), severe learning difficulties, autism, and complex medical needs. The school provides a highly personalised, nurturing environment with a strong focus on communication, independence, life skills, and wellbeing.

About the Role

You will play a vital role in supporting pupils with complex needs to access meaningful learning experiences tailored to their individual Education Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).

Responsibilities

• Providing dedicated 1:1 and small group support for learners with PMLD.
• Assisting with personal care, including toileting, feeding, and hygiene.
• Supporting mobility using specialist equipment such as hoists and wheelchairs.
• Engaging pupils in sensory-based and multi-sensory learning activities.

Essential Requirements
