Job summary

Academics is seeking a caring Learning Support Assistant for a secondary school in Shenfield. The role runs Monday to Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm, supporting students aged 11-16 and assisting teachers with resources and adaptations to help pupils access the curriculum.

Qualifications

  • Experience with children or young people in education or related settings is desirable.
  • Passion for supporting learners to reach their potential.
  • Experience with SEND is advantageous but not required.

  • Willingness to obtain Enhanced DBS via Update Service.

Responsibilities

  • Provide classroom support to students across Key Stages 3 and 4, working closely with teaching staff.

  • Assist teachers with preparing resources and adapting learning materials where required.
  • Encourage a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with the SEN department, pastoral team and teaching staff to ensure student needs are met.

Job Overview:
  • This school caters for students aged 11-16.
  • Full-time, Monday - Friday, Learning Support Assistant role.

What we're looking for:
  • Previous experience working with children or young people in an education, youth work, care or support setting is desirable.
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people and helping them achieve their full potential.
  • Experience supporting students with SEND is advantageous but not essential.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy and a positive, proactive approach to supporting students.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team and use your own initiative.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
