Job summary

Academics is seeking a caring Learning Support Assistant for a well-regarded secondary school in Shenfield, Essex. You will support students across Key Stages 3 and 4, working closely with teaching staff to foster confidence and progress.

This full-time role runs Monday to Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm, with a daily pay of £90–£110 depending on experience. An Enhanced DBS would be beneficial, and interviews are starting now for September onboarding.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or young people in an education, youth work, care or support setting is desirable.
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people and helping them achieve their full potential.
  • Experience supporting students with SEND is advantageous but not essential.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy and a positive, proactive approach to supporting students.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team and use your own initiative.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).

Responsibilities

  • Provide classroom support to students across Key Stages 3 and 4, working closely alongside teaching staff.
  • Deliver one-to-one and small group interventions to support learning, engagement and progress.
  • Support students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), helping them access the curriculum and develop confidence and independence.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and promote a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Assist teachers with preparing classroom resources and adapting learning materials where required.
  • Work collaboratively with the SEN department, pastoral team and teaching staff to ensure every student receives the support they need.
