Job summary

GSL Education Hull Branch are currently seeking a Learning Support Assistant to work in a specialist educational setting in Hull. You will provide tailored support to pupils, help them access classroom activities and develop academic and practical skills.

The successful candidate will support learners with emotional regulation, communication, social development and positive behaviour, building strong relationships with pupils and staff while following individual plans and boundaries.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with additional learning, behavioural or emotional needs.
  • An Enhanced DBS on Update Service or willingness to apply for one.
  • Experience building relationships with pupils and staff.

  • Provide tailored one-to-one and small-group support to pupils throughout the school day.
  • Assist learners with accessing classroom activities and developing academic and practical skills.
  • Support pupils with emotional regulation, communication, social development and positive behaviour.
  • Build trusting relationships while maintaining boundaries.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and wider support staff to implement individual strategies.
  • Monitor pupil engagement and progress, sharing observations with the appropriate staff.

Job Title: Learning Support Assistant
Location: Hull
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time
Start Date: As Soon As Possible
Salary: £92 - £115 per day (Depending on experience)

GSL Education Hull Branch are currently seeking a Learning Support Assistant to work in a specialist educational setting in Hull. This is an excellent opportunity for a caring and committed individual who can build strong relationships with pupils, provide personalised support and contribute to a structured and nurturing environment.

The successful Learning Support Assistant will work closely with teaching and pastoral staff to support pupils with a range of additional needs. You will help learners access education, manage barriers to engagement and develop greater independence, while providing the consistency and encouragement needed to help them make positive progress.

  • Provide tailored one-to-one and small-group support to pupils throughout the school day.
  • Assist learners with accessing classroom activities and developing their academic and practical skills.
  • Support pupils with emotional regulation, communication, social development and positive behaviour.
  • Build trusting relationships while maintaining clear, consistent and appropriate boundaries.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and wider support staff to implement individual strategies.
  • Monitor pupil engagement and progress, sharing relevant observations with the appropriate staff.
  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with additional learning, behavioural or emotional needs is desirable.
  • A patient, compassionate and resilient approach to working with pupils who may present with complex needs.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to establish positive relationships with young people.
  • Confidence in maintaining a calm and structured approach during challenging situations.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a wider team and follow individual support plans.
  • An up-to-date CV covering the last 10 years, with any employment gaps explained
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one.
