GSL Education is seeking a Learning Support Assistant for a secondary school in Barnsley. You will work with teachers to provide targeted support, helping students stay engaged and confident in their learning.

The role involves one-to-one and small-group support, assisting with tasks and behaviour management, and reporting observations to staff. DBS checks and safeguarding knowledge are required.

Qualifications

• Previous experience supporting children or young people is desirable.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• A patient, supportive and adaptable approach.
• Ability to build positive professional relationships with students.
• Confidence working with pupils who may require additional support.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team.
• Experience within an education or support setting is advantageous.

Salary: £460 - £600 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)

Contract Type: Long-term / Temporary, Full-time / Part-time

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work alongside teachers to provide targeted support to students in lessons and throughout the school day. You will help pupils stay engaged with their learning, provide one-to-one or small-group assistance where needed and encourage greater confidence and independence. To work with GSL Education as a Learning Support Assistant, you should:

• Have the right to work in the UK.
• Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.
• Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.

Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
