GSL Education Hull Branch are recruiting an enthusiastic Achievement Support Assistant to support pupils across Hull schools. You will provide one-to-one and small-group support, helping learners with classwork and activities to boost achievement.

The role emphasizes safeguarding, patience and effective communication within a school team. DBS update service or willingness to apply is required.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or young people in educational, youth work, childcare or similar settings.
  • Enhanced DBS on update service or willingness to apply.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils to help improve learning and achievement.
  • Assist pupils with classwork, homework and learning activities.
  • Support pupils facing barriers to learning, helping them develop confidence and independence.
  • Work with teachers to implement individual learning and support strategies.
  • Encourage positive attitudes towards learning, attendance and personal development.
  • Help pupils develop study, organisational and communication skills.
  • Monitor engagement, progress and behaviour and give feedback to staff.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Support classroom activities to maintain a calm, safe learning environment.
  • Assist with interventions to improve academic, social and emotional development.

Achievement Support Assistant

Location: Hull
Salary: £93-£110 per day
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long Term, Full-time / Part-time

Are you passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential?

GSL Education Hull Branch are currently recruiting an enthusiastic and dedicated Achievement Support Assistant to work within schools across Hull.

As an Achievement Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and support staff to provide targeted support to pupils who may require additional encouragement or guidance. You will help create a positive and inclusive learning environment where every pupil has the opportunity to succeed.

Responsibilities of an Achievement Support Assistant:
  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils to help improve their learning and achievement.
  • Assist pupils with their classwork, homework and learning activities.
  • Support pupils who may experience barriers to learning, helping them develop confidence and independence.
  • Work alongside teachers to implement individual learning and support strategies.
  • Encourage positive attitudes towards learning, attendance and personal development.
  • Help pupils develop effective study, organisational and communication skills.
  • Monitor pupils' engagement, progress and behaviour and provide appropriate feedback to teaching staff.
  • Build positive and supportive relationships with pupils while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Support classroom activities and contribute to a calm, safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Assist with interventions designed to improve pupils' academic, social and emotional development.
Requirements of an Achievement Support Assistant:
  • Experience working with children or young people in an educational, youth work, childcare or similar setting is desirable.
  • A genuine passion for supporting pupils to achieve their full potential.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A patient, approachable and encouraging manner.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and work effectively as part of a wider school team.
  • Confidence supporting pupils with a range of learning and developmental needs.
  • Ability to remain calm, flexible and professional when managing challenging situations.
  • A relevant qualification in education, childcare, youth work or a related field is desirable but not essential.
  • Enhanced DBS on update service or willingness to apply.
