Job summary

Protocol Education is recruiting a Learning Support Assistant in Bristol (BS16) to provide dedicated 1:1 support to a KS2 pupil in Year 3/4 with Autism and PDA. The role is full-time, Monday–Friday, with a potential to become permanent.

You will support access to the curriculum, manage day-to-day challenges, and help the pupil gain independence. Strong SEN experience and DBS updates are required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with complex needs.

  • Build a trusting relationship with the pupil and collaborate with the class teacher.

Primary SEN Experience Essential | KS2 | Long-Term to Permanent


Are you an experienced Learning Support Assistant or SEN Teaching Assistant with a strong background supporting children with additional needs?


Protocol Education is recruiting a dedicated LSA for a primary school in BS16, Bristol, supporting a Key Stage 2 pupil in Year 3/4.


This is a full-time, Monday-Friday opportunity with the potential to become a permanent position with the school.


About the Role

You will provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with complex additional needs, including Autism and Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA).


You will play an important role in helping the pupil access the curriculum, manage day-to-day challenges, build confidence and develop greater independence.


Your responsibilities will include:


  • Providing consistent 1:1 support throughout the school day.

  • Supporting access to lessons and classroom activities.

  • Adapting tasks and learning approaches to meet individual needs.

  • Using appropriate strategies to support Autism and PDA.

  • Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour.

  • Encouraging independence, confidence and engagement.

  • Building a trusting and positive relationship with the pupil.

  • Working closely with the class teacher and wider school team.

  • Maintaining a calm, structured and supportive environment.


Essential Requirements


  • Primary school-based SEN experience is essential.

  • Previous experience as an LSA, SEN TA or Teaching Assistant.

  • Experience supporting children with complex additional needs.

  • Direct experience supporting Autism and PDA is highly desirable.

  • Experience working with KS2 pupils, ideally Year 3/4.

  • Patient, calm, resilient and compassionate approach.

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

  • Ability to commit to full-time, Monday-Friday.

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply.

  • Monday - Friday

  • 8:40am - 3:10pm
