Job summary

GSL Education in Braintree is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming school. You will work with students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, helping them access learning, build confidence and achieve positive outcomes throughout their education.

The role involves supporting learning across subjects, assisting staff in delivering inclusive lessons, adapting activities to individual needs and promoting positive behaviour.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with children or young people in education, care or support settings.
  • Experience supporting students with SEN, SEMH, Autism or ADHD (desirable).

Responsibilities

Pay: £15.43 - £17.08 per hour

We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming school in Braintree. This rewarding role offers the opportunity to support students both in and out of the classroom, helping them to access learning, build confidence and achieve positive outcomes throughout their education.

The Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will:

  • Provide classroom-based support to students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
  • Support students with their learning across a range of subjects.
  • Work closely with teaching staff to deliver engaging and inclusive lessons.
  • Adapt learning activities to meet the individual needs of students.
  • Support students with additional needs, including SEN, SEMH, Autism and ADHD.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and engagement within the classroom.
  • Assist students in developing social, emotional and communication skills.
  • Help create a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
  • Support students during breaktimes, educational visits and enrichment activities where required.
  • Build positive relationships with students, staff and parents/carers.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
Requirements

The successful candidate will have:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people within an educational, care or support setting.
  • Experience supporting students with SEN, SEMH, Autism, ADHD or behavioural needs (desirable).
  • A genuine passion for helping young people succeed.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to build positive and professional relationships with students and staff.
  • Patience, empathy and a calm, supportive approach.
  • Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to maintain appropriate boundaries.
  • A flexible, proactive and resilient attitude.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A commitment to supporting students' academic, social and emotional development.
