Job summary

Randstad Education is seeking a dedicated Learning and Pastoral Support Teaching Assistant to join a specialist team in a UK school. The role focuses on helping young people thrive with SEMH, Autism, and ADHD within a structured, supportive environment.

You will work Monday to Friday, 8:30 to 16:30, enjoying term-time only hours. The role involves small group support, trauma-informed activities, and collaboration with teachers on EHCP and IEP plans to monitor progress.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting SEND or SEMH needs.
• 3–6 months in an educational setting with challenging behaviours.
• GCSE Maths and English at Grade C/5 or Level 2 equivalent.
• Right to work in the UK; DBS check required.

The Details

What You Will Be Doing

• Supporting students in small, focused class settings with both learning and pastoral care
• Using Trauma-Informed Practice and tailored activities to help students build independence
• Working alongside teachers on EHCP and IEP plans while tracking student progress
• Fostering a safe, positive environment using restorative behaviour frameworks

What You Need

• GCSE Maths and English at Grade C/5 or Level 2 equivalent
• Proven experience supporting SEND or SEMH needs
• 3 to 6 months of experience in an educational setting working with challenging behaviours
• A proactive, dedicated attitude and a genuine commitment to student welfare
• Right to work in the UK (we are unable to offer sponsorship)
• Willingness to complete a full enhanced DBS check

• Background experience in counselling, psychology-based settings, or foster care
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
