Job summary

Novus, the prison education provider at HMP Oakwood near Wolverhampton, is hiring two Learning Needs Support Practitioners on permanent, full-time contracts with 37 hours per week. You will work to identify learners' needs, develop practical strategies, and deliver tailored one-to-one and small-group support to help learners engage and succeed.

Candidates should have Level 2 Literacy and Numeracy, Level 2 in Hidden Difficulties/Learning Support or be willing to work towards, and experience

Qualifications

• Hold level 2 qualifications in Literacy and Numeracy (Grade c or grade 4 and above)
• Hold a Level 2 qualification in Hidden Difficulties/Learning Support or be willing to work towards
• Have a track record or good understanding of working effectively with learners presenting with challenging behaviour
• Have a good understanding of how people learn and methods to enhance learning
• Have experience supporting the learning of individuals and/or groups

Responsibilities

• Identify individual support needs and develop tailored strategies
• Provide one-to-one and small-group support to learners
• Collaborate with tutors and wider support teams to promote inclusive learning
• Build confidence and ensure learners engage, progress and succeed
• Promote safe and supportive learning environments at HMP Oakwood
