Learning Mentor (SEN)

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Are you looking for a dynamic and rewarding role where you can utilize your skills and experience? Philosophy Education is working with a Secondary School based in Ealing and is seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN Learning Mentor to join our team.

The school's Philosophy Education represents an Outstanding mainstream secondary school that is committed to providing a supportive and inclusive environment for all our students. The school staff is dedicated to ensuring that every student receives the individual attention and support they need to thrive.

The Role:

SEN Learning Mentors can improve the academic standard of students they are selected to work with in the following three major curriculum subjects: English Literature, Mathematics, or Biology, Physics, and Chemistry (KS3-4).

The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting students with additional needs that may be social-emotional and Mental Health needs.

Your main responsibilities will include:

1. Providing one-to-one and small group support to students with SEMH needs.
2. Developing and implementing strategies to help students manage their emotions and behaviour.
3. Supporting students in their academic, social, and personal development.
4. Helping students get ready to take up and coming exams.
5. Collaborating with teachers and other staff to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
6. Monitoring and assessing students' progress and adjusting support plans as needed.

Requirements:

1. Experience working with secondary age pupils, ideally within mainstream or special school.
2. Graduate background or Tuition background.
3. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
4. The ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
5. Patience, resilience, and a positive attitude.
6. A commitment to promoting equality and inclusion.

Desirable:

1. Relevant qualifications or training in SEMH support.
2. Experience working in a secondary school setting.
