Job Opportunity: SEN Learning Mentor

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Philosophy Education is working with a Secondary School in Ealing to find a dedicated and experienced SEN Learning Mentor.

The school is an Outstanding mainstream secondary institution committed to providing a supportive and inclusive environment. Staff are dedicated to ensuring every student receives the individual attention and support they need to thrive.

The Role:

SEN Learning Mentors support students in key curriculum subjects such as English Literature, Mathematics, or combined Science (Biology, Physics, Chemistry) across KS3-4 levels.

The ideal candidate will support students with SEMH needs, working closely with teachers, parents, and professionals to develop and implement individualized support plans. Responsibilities include:

  1. Providing one-to-one and small group support to students with SEMH needs.
  2. Developing strategies to help students manage emotions and behavior.
  3. Supporting students' academic, social, and personal development.
  4. Preparing students for upcoming exams.
  5. Collaborating with staff to foster a positive, inclusive learning environment.
  6. Monitoring and adjusting support plans based on student progress.
Requirements:
  • Experience working with secondary pupils in mainstream or special schools.
  • Graduate or tuition background.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Patience, resilience, and a positive attitude.
  • Commitment to equality and inclusion.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in SEMH support.
  • Experience in a secondary school setting.
