Job description

Join to apply for the Learning Mentor English role at NCG.

Southwark College, part of NCG, is looking to recruit a talented Learning Mentor to support GCSE English students. The ideal candidate should be able to start on September 25, but later start dates may be considered for exceptional candidates. The position is based at our Southwark College site, close to Waterloo Station. The successful candidate will be part of a large English teaching team.

The role involves providing support to learners studying GCSE English, either individually or in small groups, in a dedicated English and Maths Centre that you will manage.

Main Duties of the Post Holder
  1. To teach GCSE English to individual or small groups of students to support their learning.
  2. To contribute to the review, planning, and development of the GCSE English curriculum at Southwark College.
  3. To work with the English team to devise and implement a range of assessment activities.
  4. To assess student work and provide feedback to support learners in developing their skills and maximizing their potential.
  5. To keep accurate records of student attendance and progress during English support sessions.
  6. To be responsible for the facilities within the English and Maths Study Centre.
