Job summary

Warwick College Group is seeking a Learning Mentor to support students with SEND within their learning programmes and help them towards independence. The role is based on-site at a UK college, with pre-employment checks including DBS.

You will work with identified students in classrooms and workshops, supporting progress, attendance, and attainment, including EHCP-related activities and mentoring support. A pro rata salary applies for partial-year starts.

Qualifications

• English and Maths skills equivalent to Level 2.
• Working knowledge of IT (email, internet and other software applications).
• Ability to work flexibly as part of a team.
• Experience of supporting young people with learning difficulties or disabilities (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Provide personal and/or intimate care for students as required.
• In-class or mentoring support outside the classroom as directed by the SEN Team Leader.
• Assist the lecturer with preparation of materials for named students.
• Promote and support independent learning.
• Be a key worker for designated students with EHCPs.
• Support the EHCP annual review process.
• Collaborate with Personal Tutor to monitor and review targets.
• Contact parents by phone or in writing where appropriate.
• Act as trouble-shooter to help students meet deadlines and catch up on missed work.
• Attend Academy and Inclusion Team meetings.
• Undertake training including Team Teach and core college training.
• Accompany students on work experience placements or trips when appropriate.
• Collaborate on risk assessments, Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans, Medical Protocols, and exam access arrangements.
• Undertake administrative duties and maintain student progress records.
