Job summary

SWAAY is seeking a Learning Mentor to support vulnerable young people within a specialist therapeutic education setting. You will foster positive relationships, assist learning in classrooms and during sports, and contribute to a trauma-informed approach to behaviour and outcomes.

Join a dedicated team of Teachers, Therapists and Residential Workers to deliver safeguarding and inclusive education, with term-time hours and an emphasis on holistic development for adolescents aged 11-17.

Qualifications

  • Have previous experience working with children and young people (desirable).
  • Are resilient, calm and able to respond with patience.
  • Have flexibility to adapt to changing needs.
  • Want a career with purpose and impact.
  • Hold a full UK driving licence (desirable).

  • Encourage positive behaviour through trauma-informed practice.

About SWAAY

Our small independent school offers secondary education to young males aged 11-17 who have experienced significant trauma and displayed harmful sexual behaviour. We are committed to delivering an Education for Life, enabling every pupil to achieve their full potential. Through our therapeutic, trauma-informed approach, we provide a safe and supportive environment where each pupil is respected as an individual, their strengths are recognised and they are empowered to develop the confidence and skills to prepare them for further education, work and life.

What you’ll do as a Learning Mentor:
