Job summary

SWAAY is seeking a Learning Mentor to support vulnerable young people within a specialist therapeutic education setting. You will foster positive relationships, assist learning in classrooms and during sports, and contribute to a trauma-informed approach to behaviour and outcomes.

Join a dedicated team of Teachers, Therapists and Residential Workers to deliver safeguarding and inclusive education, with term-time hours and an emphasis on holistic development for adolescents aged 11-17.

Qualifications

• Have previous experience working with children and young people (desirable).
• Are resilient, calm and able to respond with patience.
• Have flexibility to adapt to changing needs.
• Want a career with purpose and impact.
• Hold a full UK driving licence (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Develop positive, therapeutic relationships with pupils.
• Support pupils’ learning within the classroom and during sports activities.
• Encourage positive behaviour through trauma-informed practice.
• Supervise and participate in daily sports and outdoor activities.
• Work collaboratively with Teachers, Therapists and Residential Workers to achieve the best outcomes for young people.
• Assist with educational visits.
• Promote safeguarding, inclusion and positive outcomes for all students.
