Sudbourne Primary School is seeking an outstanding Learning Mentor to work across the school to identify and support pupils facing social, emotional, or behavioural barriers to learning, helping them build resilience and reach their full academic potential.

The role offers term-time hours (39 weeks per year), 35 hours per week, starting ASAP, with a fixed-term contract to 31 August 2027. We value inclusive practice and professional development opportunities.

Job description

Salary: Scale 5 Sp 12 to 15 (£34,359 - £35,892 pro rata)

Hours: 35 Hours, Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 4:00pm (Wed: 8:30am - 4:30pm)

Year Round?: 39 weeks per year (term time only)

Permanent?: No - Fixed Term to 31st August 2027

This is an exciting opportunity for an outstanding Learning Mentor to work collaboratively across the school to identify and support pupils facing social, emotional, or behavioural barriers to learning, helping them to build resilience, improve classroom engagement and reach their full academic potential.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have an understanding of child development and how the learning processes can be affected by other factors.
  • Possess a thorough knowledge of agencies that support vulnerable children.
  • Ability to motivate pupils by establishing empathetic and supportive working relationships.
  • Be a positive role model to children and ‘champion’ inclusive practices.
  • Ability to organise and plan independently.
  • Be flexible and adaptable to try new approaches with children.
  • Be confident in using various forms of ICT and use online platforms to track the progress of social and emotional development
  • Have or be willing to undertake full Thrive training, level 3 Child Protection training and other related training.Liaise confidently and professionally with parents and staff.
