Job summary

Protocol Education is recruiting a dedicated Learning Mentor to join a welcoming secondary school in North Shields. You will support students one-to-one and in small groups, building trusting relationships and helping them overcome barriers to learning.

Ideal candidates are graduates in psychology, sociology, English or sports, with excellent communication and resilience. The role offers weekly PAYE pay and a September start with long-term opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Qualifications and training for safeguarding requirements.
  • Willingness to undertake DBS check and safeguarding training.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support to students.
  • Build positive relationships with young people.
  • Deliver targeted interventions focused on confidence, engagement and attendance.
  • Support students with SEND, SEMH needs, ASC, ADHD.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff, pastoral teams and parents/carers.

Protocol Education is recruiting a dedicated Learning Mentor to join a welcoming secondary school in North Shields. This is an excellent opportunity for graduates, aspiring teachers and experienced support staff to work closely with students, providing the guidance, encouragement and intervention they need to flourish.

The Role

As a Learning Mentor, you will:

  • Support students on a one-to-one and small-group basis.
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with young people.
  • Help students overcome academic, social and emotional barriers to learning.
  • Deliver targeted interventions focused on confidence, engagement and attendance.
  • Support students with SEND, SEMH needs, Autism (ASC) and ADHD.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and attitudes towards learning.
  • Work closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams and parents/carers.
  • Act as a positive role model throughout the school day.
  • Every day presents an opportunity to help students develop the skills, resilience and confidence needed for future success.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
