Job summary

Teaching Personnel are seeking a Learning Mentor to support KS3 and KS4 students at a mainstream secondary school in Clitheroe, Lancashire, from November 2026 to April 2027. You will provide targeted academic, emotional and behavioural support to help learners engage and achieve.

You will run one-to-one and small group interventions, build positive relationships with Years 7–11, identify barriers to learning, and collaborate with staff and parents to monitor progress and promote resilience.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with young people within a school, youth work, mentoring or pastoral support setting.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation abilities.
  • Patient, empathetic and adaptable approach.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team.
  • Understanding safeguarding and child protection responsibilities.

Responsibilities

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Mentor to join a welcoming mainstream secondary school in Clitheroe, Lancashire from November 2026 until April 2027. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual who is passionate about supporting young people to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.

Working across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, you will provide targeted academic, emotional and behavioural support to students, helping them to engage positively with school life and improve their outcomes.

The Role

As a Learning Mentor, you will:

  • Build positive and trusting relationships with students across Years 7–11.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
