Job summary

Protocol Education Ltd is seeking a dedicated Secondary Learning Mentor to support pupils aged 11 to 16 in a busy secondary school. The role involves 1:1, small group, and in-classroom support across the mainstream and SEN Unit, liaising with teachers and families to maximise learning outcomes.

The position runs from 8:30am to 3:30pm, Monday to Friday, with September 2026 start and safeguarding training provided.

Qualifications

  • All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role.
  • Experience supporting secondary aged pupils is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Support secondary pupils across the mainstream school and SEN Unit.
  • Work 1:1, in small groups or in classroom settings.
  • Liaise with teachers, parents/carers and other support staff to provide the best quality assistance.
  • Build rapport and help remove barriers to learning and support pupil wellbeing.
  • Maintain strong behaviour management to ensure a safe environment.

The Role

You will be expected to support Secondary aged pupils who are either lower ability, or have additional needs across the mainstream school and SEN Unit.

Working on a 1:1, small group or clasroom basis

Liaising with teachers, parents/carers and other support staff to provide the best quality assistance possible

Building strong rapports, breaking down barriers to learning and enhancing student personal and academic development

Providing a safe environment, for pupil well‑being

Maintaining strong behaviour management

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
