Job summary

Softcat is building its Sales Learning & Development capability. The Learning & Development Manager - Sales will partner with senior sales leaders to design, deliver and embed capability-building activities that improve sales performance, manager effectiveness and employee development.

Reporting to the Head of Learning & Development, you will drive transformation projects, build a sales academy and modernise early career sales development programmes, while ensuring CRM and learning initiatives

Qualifications

  • Experience in L&D, Sales Enablement, or business partnering roles.
  • Ability to influence senior leaders and align priorities.
  • Experience leading transformation projects from design to adoption.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the strategic lead for Sales L&D, owning the sales learning roadmap.
  • Lead the completion and embedding of transformation projects, including a sales academy.
  • Move projects from discovery and design into practical delivery with clear ownership and milestones.
  • Support the rollout of a new CRM system and ensure adoption in learning initiatives.
  • Partner with Sales leaders, People Partners, Enablement, IT, and SMEs to create joined-up learning experiences.

Leading the Sales L&D agenda

The Learning & Development Manager - Sales, reporting to the Head of Learning & Development, is responsible for leading the Sales L&D agenda, partnering closely with senior sales stakeholders to design, deliver and embed capability-building activity that improves sales performance, manager effectiveness and employee development. This role will play a key part in completing several transformation projects already in flight across the Sales department that focus on modernising our approach to enabling our Sales department.

As Learning & Development Manager - Sales, you'll be responsible for:

  • Act as the strategic lead for Sales L&D, owning the sales learning roadmap and ensuring activity is aligned to the wider Sales strategy, L&D strategy and Softcat growth ambitions.
  • Lead the completion and embedding of Sales transformation projects already in flight including our sales capability project, building a sales academy and modernising our early career sales development programmes.
  • Move priority projects from discovery and design into practical delivery, ensuring clear ownership, realistic milestones, stakeholder alignment, adoption plans and measurable outcomes.
  • Support roll out of new CRM system - ensure adoption is built into all sales learning initiatives
  • Partner with Sales leaders, People Business Partners, Sales Enablement, Commercial Enablement, IT, external providers and SMEs to create joined-up development experiences that reduce duplication and improve the learner journey.
We'd love you to have
  • Demonstrable experience in an L&D, Sales Enablement, Sales Capability or business partnering role, ideally supporting sales teams or commercial functions.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships, influence senior leaders and bring clarity where there are multiple views, priorities or dependencies.
  • Experience leading transformation or change projects from discovery and design through to implementation, adoption and evaluation.
  • A strong understanding of how to build capability through a blend of formal learning, coaching, peer learning, digital resources, in-the-flow-of-work tools and practical application.
  • Confident working with sales leaders and sales teams, with the credibility to understand commercial priorities and translate them into practical learning solutions.
  • Prior people management experience
