Job summary

Moog in Wolverhampton is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineering Team Lead to direct a shop-floor engineering group and drive lean process improvements. You will manage work assignments, performance reviews, and training while coordinating with the Manufacturing Engineering Manager on key projects.

You will apply machining expertise (5-axis milling, grinding, gear cutting, wire erosion) and lead improvements with a focus on Zero Defects.

Qualifications

• BSc degree in Mechanical/Production/Manufacturing Engineering or Leadership.
• HNC/HND in Mechanical/Production/Manufacturing Engineering.
• Progressive experience in manufacturing/process engineering.
• Experience with lean methodologies and Zero Defects.
• Proven knowledge of machining practices including Mill/Turn, 5 Axis Milling, Grinding, Gear Cutting, Spark/Wire Eroding, Honing/Lapping.

Responsibilities

• Manage and mentor the Manufacturing Engineering team on the shop floor and in personnel management.
• Direct work assignments, scheduling, and review of work in progress.
• Support performance reviews and training/development coordination.
• Establish and deliver lean processes into the manufacturing environment.
• Identify key process improvement projects with the Manufacturing Engineering Manager.
• Deploy methods based on 3D models for product launch into manufacturing.
• Establish standard times for operations to minimise wastes.
• Support engineers/technicians in gauging, fixtures, and tooling creation and approval.
• Provide cross-departmental technical support, including occasional global involvement.
• Allocate shop support resources and participate in support actions.
