Job summary

Kier Design seeks a Principal Temporary Works Engineer to lead complex temporary works design and management across a broad project portfolio. This role sits within a top-tier contractor environment with agile working patterns and multiple UK locations.

You will mentor teams, provide technical leadership, review third-party designs, and support bid activities to drive safety and buildability across projects.

Qualifications

• Chartered membership of a relevant institution or substantial construction engineering experience.
• Experience leading complex construction engineering services, including temporary works design.
• Able to provide technical leadership and design management across teams.
• Skilled at delivering innovative, buildable solutions that improve project efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Lead temporary works design and checking, integrated with permanent works where applicable.
• Provide tender and bid support through feasibility studies and concept development.
• Manage design projects, leading multidisciplinary teams and acting as lead designer.
• Review third-party designs to ensure compliance with Kier requirements.
• Offer technical expertise as part of engineering excellence and mentor staff.
