Job summary

Kier Group plc. is seeking a Principal Temporary Works Engineer to join our team, based in multiple UK locations including Norwich.

You will lead the temporary works design and provide technical leadership across multidisciplinary projects, ensuring safe, buildable solutions from concept to delivery. You’ll manage bid support, feasibility studies, and reviews of third-party designs, mentoring staff and collaborating with site teams to drive engineering excellence within Kier’s prestigious

Qualifications

Chartered member of a relevant professional institution (e.g. CEng MICE) or substantial experience in construction engineering.
Experienced in leading complex construction engineering services, including temporary works design.
Capable of providing technical leadership and design management across multidisciplinary teams.
Skilled in delivering innovative, buildable solutions that enhance project efficiency.

Responsibilities

Lead temporary works design and checking, integrated with permanent works design where applicable.
Provide tender and bid support through feasibility studies, concept development, and alternative solutions.
Managing design projects, including leading multidisciplinary teams and acting as lead designer.
Review third-party designs to ensure compliance with client and Kier requirements.
Offering technical expertise and advice as part of a centre of engineering excellence, supporting site teams and mentoring staff.
