As Visa continues to innovate and evolve to meet the ever-changing needs of the global payments ecosystem, we are developing Open VisaNet (OVN), the next-generation payments processing platform built on modern architecture, development practices, and the latest technologies to meet current and future requirements of our product teams, clients, and partners.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Sr. Director of Architecture, the Lead Systems Architect is responsible for the service and platform architecture for Open VisaNet’s core payment processing stack.

Specific Responsibilities Include:

• Leverage payment processing expertise in authorization, clearing, and settlement to design and develop future OVN products and enhancements.
• Collaborate with product leadership to define requirements and develop technical solutions across VisaNet systems.
• Create detailed technical approach documents for projects, considering intersections with other initiatives and platforms.
• Provide architectural guidance to application development teams to create adaptable, cost-efficient solutions for tactical and strategic needs.
• Serve as the point of contact for engineers in solution design and implementation.
• Review and approve detailed design artifacts, ensuring alignment with the high-level architectural vision of OVN.
• Contribute to technical and customer-facing documentation, including release articles and technical specifications.
• Regularly consult with leadership to align expectations and deliverables.

Secondary Responsibilities:

• Provide expertise in payment processing and the Open VisaNet stack across the organization.
• Mentor and guide teams to develop secure, resilient, and scalable solutions.
• Stay updated with new technologies and incorporate them into strategic planning.

Work Arrangement: Hybrid position, working both remotely and in the office three days a week (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays).

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

• 10+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or 7+ years with an advanced degree, or 4+ years with a PhD, or 13+ years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or Math.
• Practical knowledge of VisaNet transaction processing, including authorization, clearing, and settlement.
• Experience designing secure, scalable, and highly available systems.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Technical skills include proficiency in cloud-native technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP), Golang, C/C++, distributed systems (Kafka, gRPC, REST), NoSQL, and RDBMS.
